Terms & Conditions

These Terms govern your use of the Menuet Car Rentals website and any booking request you submit. By submitting a booking you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms, which forms the basis of the contract you will sign in person at vehicle hand-over.

1. Who we are

2. Booking requests

A submission on this website is a request, not a confirmed contract. Your booking is confirmed only once we have received your deposit (by bank transfer) and you receive a confirmation email from us. We may decline any request at our discretion.

3. Driver requirements

Drivers qualify with 3+ years of license history, or age 23+ with 1+ year licensed.
Driving licence must be valid in Montenegro (EU/EEA, UK, US, CA, AU, NZ and CIS licences accepted; an International Driving Permit is required for other jurisdictions).
Passport or national ID presented at pickup.
Young-driver surcharge of €5/day applies to drivers aged 21–24.

4. Cancellations & modifications

Free cancellation and modification up to 48 hours before the scheduled pickup. Within that window the deposit is non-refundable. No-shows are billed the first rental day in full.

5. Accidents — police report is mandatory

If anything happens — even a minor scratch — call 122 (Montenegrin Police) before moving the vehicle. Insurance carriers in Montenegro routinely reject damage claims when no official police report (European Accident Report / Police Record) is produced. Failure to obtain a police report makes the renter 100% liable for the full repair cost, regardless of the protection package purchased.

6. Cross-border travel

Driving the vehicle outside Montenegro is permitted only with our prior written consent and only when the vehicle is travelling with a valid Green Card (Zeleni karton). Default is no cross-border use. Add the border-crossing pack at booking, or contact us before pickup.

7. Traffic fines & municipal parking

The renter is responsible for 100% of any traffic, speeding, red-light, or parking fines incurred during the rental period, including towing fees levied by Budva's Pauk service. If an authority bills us after the rental ends, you authorize us to charge you the fine plus a flat €25 administrative handling fee per incident.

8. Loss of keys, plates or documents

Lost or damaged vehicle key: €500
Lost vehicle registration (saobraćajna dozvola) or Green Card: €300
Lost or damaged licence plate: €200

9. Fuel & cleaning

Full-to-full fuel policy. A €30 refuelling service fee plus fuel at the pump price applies if the tank is not full on return.
Standard return cleaning is included. Excessive interior soiling (sand, pet hair, vomit): €80–€150 depending on severity.
Smoking inside the vehicle: flat €200 deep-clean charge.

10. Mileage

Unlimited mileage within Montenegro for rentals of 3 days or more. Single-day rentals are capped at 250 km/day, €0.20 per additional km.

11. Liability & protection

See Protection & insurance for the deductible amounts of each tier. The renter's financial liability is capped at the chosen tier's deductible only if the accident clause (§5) and cross-border clause (§6) have been satisfied. Otherwise the renter bears the full cost of repair plus a €50/day downtime fee while the vehicle is off the road.

12. Data & privacy

We process your data as described in our Privacy policy. Booking records are retained for 7 years to satisfy Montenegrin tax law.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Montenegro. Disputes will be heard by the competent court in Podgorica.

Important. This document is a market-standard template. Final operating contracts must be reviewed by a licensed Montenegrin attorney (Advokat) before being executed.
